Gothic Horror Elements - A Multimedia Introduction

(0)
These materials have been designed to provide a brief introduction to Gothic horror and are also great for Halloween! I have provided a variety of multi media resources including two short animated videos and a ‘Prezi’ (like a Powerpoint but more fun!) along with associated quizzes and texts as a PDF resource which can be tailored to the needs of the students. There are two versions in this package. One for older students, and one for students of ESL or younger students The materials can be printed out and used in a multi media classroom, and the Prezi can be downloaded and installed on a computer for ease of use. Alternatively, copies of the PDF, which contains links to all online materials, can be purchased for students to install on their own computers so they can access everything directly. 16 pages The lesson contains; Version 1: Ages 14-16 1. PDF student and teacher documents that give an outline of the history of Gothic horror stories and the elements that are recognized as important to the genre. 2. A link on the PDF worksheet to view online or download the Prezi which contains 9 slides that describe the elements of a Gothic story visually with humorous speech bubbles and full narration. 3. Links to two animated videos and learning materials for new vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension quizzes along with a comic writing exercise. 4. A set of teachers notes and quiz answers along with a contact e.mail for enquiries. Version 2: Younger students or those studying ESL 1. The same PDF student and teacher resources. However, these have simplified language and vocabulary and have been changed from book form to discrete lesson parts that can be distributed as handouts in any order. These have the same links to the movies and 'Prezi'. 2. There are also a wider range of review materials for this version, including a crossword, reading review, word quizzes, comic book text fill and a reading and word test based on the language learned. If you have any questions about using Prezi or the iPad lesson, please feel free to contact me through TpT or download the preview and use my mail address. This 137-page Workbook Edition of ‘The General Prologue’ is built around a full copy of the original text, with a new inter-line modern translation, and together with the other versions of the resource available at LitWorks.com offers access to the text in a variety of ways. Principally, it is a page-by-page reading guide, drawing students’ attention, by means of illuminating comments and challenging questions, to significant details in the narrative. It suggests a structured way of approaching the text, using the highly effective SCASI (Setting, Character, Action, Style and Ideas) framework. It also carries a series of essay prompts in the style of external examinations (GCE A Level, IB and AP) which encourage students to take a wider view of the work and relate it to fundamental literary and critical concepts.

It's great to see the Olympics bring so many people together, uniting and inspiring so many in Britain. To be a great sports hero requires many &'divine&'; qualities such as patience, determination, endurance, courage and enthusiasm - and brings so much joy. On TV tonight, discussion on the 'exclusive&' nature of sports - equestrian / sailing. But everyone is getting so much joy in watching. The discussion itself should lead to improvements which bring more people into the different sports. I&';d love to see more games (such as Indian Kabadi) from around the world into the Olympics, too.
