This pack is applicable to all KS2. I made it for Year 6s revising for their SATs but it covers all the spelling rules from Year 3 up to Year 6. I have included as many words as I could think of for each spelling rule but feel free to edit/improve where you want.
I made these spelling sheets as a revision aid for SATs. The are based on commonly occurring spelling patterns from previous tests. You can find weeks 5-8 and 9-11 listed separately.

I have compiled a list of words that are from the Spelling National Curriculum for year 5 and 6. All words have either come up in previous SAT’s exams, are likely to come up or involve sound chunks that will appear in the spelling exam. Either way, the children can really benefit from doing a spelling test a week using this resource. The first few pages contain prefixes, suffixes, homophones and many other spelling techniques that the children will often be exposed to.
I have used this in my class to recap the children’s spellings and it has improved their ability to spell around root words. They know how to spell prefixes and suffixes a whole lot better and it hasn’t overwhelmed them as there aren’t too many words in each column.
I would definitely recommend this as a quick spelling test/starter with the class!
There are a total of 10 pages which gives you 70 week’s worth of spelling test :)
14 pages of Year 6 spelling rules, all matched with the National Curriculum and taken from the Spelling Appendix, including the words from the statutory word list.
Each page explains a different spelling rule and gives words that match the rule.
22 spelling lists for year 5 and 14 spelling lists for year 6.
Well organised. Each spelling list covers a specific rule from the year 5/6 curriculum. For ease of coverage, I have split the year 5/6 spelling rules and common exception words into two separate year groups. The bulk of the spellings are covered in the year 5 set, in order to give year 6 time to recap spellings from other year groups before SATs week.
Easy to use in class and can be used easily alongside lessons/ other resources for learning spellings. Also useful to help you identify spelling rules to teach.
Sheets can be sent home to help children with learning their spellings.
You may also like to use the year 3/4 sets for recap work.
This is a unique resource which contains the complete Year 5 and 6 spelling list programme. In 2014 the Year 5 & 6 spelling list was introduced. This contained 100 words that all Year 5 & 6 pupils should be able to spell correctly. This imaginative way of learning and testing these spellings is contained in 8 weekly parts, each including a humorous story setting the 12 words for the week in context. This booklet also contains an additional story assessing the 24 homophones, which many Year 5 and 6 pupils still struggle to use correctly in their writing. Story titles are imaginative and include; 'Vanessa and the Robot Dog,' 'The Story of the Richest Girl in the World, 'Marvo, Crusty and the Incredible Barrel Bet,' and 'Brave Sir John and the Smell of Fear.' to name but a few. This 60 page book is an essential resource for Year 5 and 6 teachers preparing for SATs and also useful for teachers in years 7 and 8 completing catch up programmes. I hope you will enjoy using this resource.
54 spelling lists for Y1
40 spelling lists for Y2
30 spelling lists for Y3
30 spelling lists for Y4
22 spelling lists for Y5
14 spelling lists for Y6
Well organised. Each spelling list covers a specific rule from the year group curriculum, including common exception words.
For ease of coverage, I have split the year 3/4 and 5/6 spelling rules and common exception words into separate year groups.
The bulk of the Y5/6 spellings are covered in the year 5 set, in order to give year 6 time to recap spellings from other year groups before SATs week.
Easy to use in class and can be used easily alongside lessons/ other resources for learning spellings. Also useful to help you identify spelling rules to teach.
Sheets can be sent home to help children with learning their spellings.
14 spelling lists for year 6 (enough to cover the whole year, with room for recapping spellings from years 3/4/5 as necessary, in time for sitting those all important SATs)
Well organised. Each spelling list covers a specific rule from the year 6 curriculum, or common exception words. Note, as the spelling curriculum for year 6 is merged with that of year 5, I have separated the spellings into two separate year groups. The bulk of the spellings are in the year 5 spelling lists, to allow ample time for recapping in time for year 6 SATs.
Each spelling has space for children to find out what the word means and then use the word in a sentence, so as they learn more about the word than just the spelling.
Easy to use in class and can be used easily alongside spelling lessons/other resources for learning spellings. Also useful to help you identify spelling rules to teach.
Sheets can be sent home to help children with learning their spellings.
Children may need to recap the spelling work from KS1, or years 3/4/5 (also available).
A 20 page literacy booklet suitable for KS2 and KS3 pupils (can be edited to suit need). This workbook focuses on spelling skills with a variety of tasks that cover a range of skills needed for SATs and beyond: Root words; prefixes; suffixes; homophones; plurals; spelling lists for practise.
An invaluable resource for whole class or intervention/ booster sessions. Just print and go!
This bundle contains a fully editable 100-Question Revision PowerPoint on Grammar and Punctuation SATS Style Questions and two sets ( 36 pages) of paper-based SATS-style questions on grammar and punctuation (266 questions in total).

10 spelling words to learn based on a spelling pattern or sound as recommended in the new National Curriculum.

Activity 2 - Anagrams. The spelling words have been scrambled up and the children need to unscramble and then write out correctly.
Activity 3 - Wordsearch. The spelling words are hidden in a wordsearch and the children need to find them.
Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12

Each activity is designed to take between 10 and 30 minutes and can either be built into the curriculum or given as homework activities.
The spelling words and activities are aimed at children in years 5/6 and can be completed on paper or in books.
These activities are provided in both PDF and PowerPoint format so they can be displayed on a whiteboard or printed out. Each page is decorated with a playful Clipart image thanks to our license with Clipart.com.
