AS Film Studies Work Book

A book containing key concepts and some independent learning activities for WJEC AS Film Studies. I use this for section A of the exam, as I find writing lots of notes makes lessons boring. This is by no means the full content, but acts as a framework to build case studies around.

Children's Theatre SOW and RESOURCES

This is a Children's Theatre scheme of work I have put together for Yr9 Drama/Performing Arts Students. It includes a terms work on different production arts skills (inc. directing, costume etc). Then a second term on bringing all of these skills together and creating a small scale production company. It is still a bit of a work in progress, so there may be gaps in places. It also doesn&'t have all the resources (such as a children&';s theatre performance video). If nothing else I hope it provides others with a stepping stone.

Formal Writing- Job application to be a god

(0)
This unit of work was designed by two teachers, one a writing moderator and literacy lead, still practising in year 6. Collaborative learning is a key aspect to building the foundations of our work so there are opportunities for mixed ability seating whether you set or not. This unit of work is to designed to push writers towards the expected standard and beyond whilst using our focus of Norse mythology. It focuses on a formal piece of writing in which the children apply to become a god. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to draw gods in art or create them on apps using the iPads. Children are given the opportunity to use a range of elements from the Teacher Assessment Framework. In this piece there is the opportunity to showcase almost all the elements: a range of cohesive devices, opportunities for higher-level punctuation, the use of first person, distinguishing between tone, a range of tenses, specifically perfect tenses and a range of clause structures. The unit provides a model which can be annotated and amended to suit all abilities. Overall this unit gives the user ample opportunities to refine skills, assess writing (self, peer or teacher), draft, edit and up level writing.

Visual Design CS6: Mini-yearbooks

A yearbook, or annual, is frequently used to record, commemorate, and highlight a school year. At most institutions, student teams publish yearbooks. Some countries and organisations also publish yearbooks as annual summary reports. In this project, students form teams to develop and create a yearbook. The students create templates of several double-page layouts and create reusable graphics and illustrations to implement thematic and design consistency throughout the yearbook.

Easter lesson with linked resources

This is a quick overview of the Easter story. It starts by looking at Palm Sunday, using a PPT with cheerful illustrations which is then contrasted with the Jan Pienkowski Easter story (silhouettes). All the links are embedded in the notebook file (click on the pointer and then hover over pictures to locate the links) I used ipads for the children to follow the Jan Pienkowski story, as it is a free online story on her website-ideal. I have used this with all KS2, with one class going on to recreate the pictures for a display (statements to decorate and accompany included)

12 Contemporary Drawing Lessons

(0)
The Ebook features twelve stimulating, unique and creative approaches to drawing that do not require realistic drawing skills. Using common, everday resources, each exercise links to a contemporary artist so that your students can relate the activity to professional practice. Drawing has never been this enjoyable! The Contemporary drawing Practice exercises are suitable for students aged 11 - 16. You do not need to be an art specialist to be able to teach these lessons because the children will be able to teach themselves. Just print them out in colour and laminate them. Each exercise contains learning objectives, step by step instructions, full colour photos of artists work, research tasks and extension work. For more fantastic art resources visit my TES store https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/paulcarney700 Note: All images remain the property of the artist and no unauthorised copying or distribution is allowed. Powerpoint to aid teaching about David Hockney including photos of some of his work. Made personally, initially used with 9 year olds although could easily be adapted for older. I have also included a Powerpoint with information about him. NEW October, 2015 Due to the popularity of this resource I have included some additional work. A weekly plan I made for use with these resources A pdf. that can be printed out to make an enormous picture of his Artwork 'splash' on separate A4 pieces and put together like a jigsaw for display. On the UK site this resource is rated extremely highly 4.7 / 5 with reviews from users. I have included it at a lower price here for a short introductory period, enjoy!
