Where does poo come from and how does the digestive system work, does the digestive system of a cow work the same as the digestive system of a human? What can we learn from poo? The soft shoe shuffle lament of a poor lonely slug in search of some tender loving care even though he admits 'I eat all the lettuces grown by your Dad' in the lyrics. A short but fun song that children will love. Suitable for use with Play Groups, E.Y.F.S and K.S.1. and a great addition to a topic on Mini Beasts. Japanese Cherry Blossom Craft and Haiku Poetry Activity
A creative, integrated Haiku Poetry Unit, classroom decoration, art project and 3D model all rolled into one beautiful Spring Activity! This is a very versatile art project the can be used for celebrating Cherry Blossom Festivals, Apple Blossoms, Spring, Poetry and Japanese culture.
Paper lanterns are great for developing fine motor skills such as: folding, coloring, painting, gluing, cutting, listening and following directions. Embedded within this Japanese Lantern Craft there are several activities to extend your students learning about Blossoms, Spring, and Cherry Blossom Festivals in Japan and Washington DC.
These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students…so many possibilities.
This unit can be approached in several ways. Either as a quick Spring Craft that will take about 90 minutes to complete. Or as Japanese Cherry Blossom Lantern and Haiku Poetry that will take upwards of a week to complete.
With my Kiddos, I have them spend a great amount time coloring their Blossoms as closely to the naturally occurring colors…this becomes a great observational and attention to detail project. I love teaching the kids how to layer and blend colors to create 3D dimensional optical effects.
Included in this unit
:: Bits and Pieces to create a Japanese lantern with lots of variations…see samples in preview ::
:: Bottom trim ::
Trims with ample space for writing facts or poems
Trim with Cute Cherry Blossom Haiku written by me with primary tracing letters
:: Activity Worksheets ::
4 Haiku writing sheets

This presentation is in PDF format.
Wordsearch Puzzle sheet on the theme of ‘The Lake District’.
Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet.
Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete.
Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen.
The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
Graphics of the main parts of plant life cycle. Pictures of different flowers.
