The objectives of the Powerpoint, animation, video and various worksheets are to identify the three different types of rainfall (frontal, convectional and relief). To investigate and understand the mechanisms behind the different types of rainfall, and to identify and explain the link between areas of high altitude and relief rainfall.

This activity teaches the pupils first to read a climate graph and then to make one. It concentrates on climate data for the UK and for an extension activity, the pupils have to compare the climates of London and Edinburgh.
A decision-making exercise created for year 7, but could easily be used with other age groups too. Students work in groups, taking on the role of flood management response teams to make quick and effective decisions. All incoming messages are based on real-life news reports and tweets made during the 2013/14 Christmas floods in Kent.
A lesson designed to teach students about possible solutions to increasing CO2 levels, specifically offsetting and storage. This was used in an observation lesson with a year ten environmental science class.
The lesson includes differentiation for higher and foundation abilities, independent learning, collaborative working, progress checks, modelled answers and peer assessment. The resources are very detailed.
Complete lesson where pupils work in teams to collect evidence FOR and AGAINST the idea that UK weather is becoming more extreme.
Can easily be differentiated by editing the table inside to structure research for lower ability pupils.
A simple and effective worksheet to allow SEN students to demonstrate their understanding of the factors affecting climate.
Aimed at Year 7 students, but could be used throughout Key Stage 3. The second page of the worksheet allows students to draw images/visually represent the different factors affecting climate.
These A3 Revision Sheets contain everything students need to know from the AS Edexcel Geography Unit 1 Topics of Natural Hazards, Globalisation and Global Warming along with the Unit 2 Topic of Extreme Weather (field work is unique to my class). The only AS topics not included are Migration, Global Cities and Roots from Unit 1 and Rebranding from Unit 2. The sheets are packed with text (and the odd diagram where necessary) and for full benefit, I would advise printing each sheet in double-sided colour A3 as the text will be too small if printed in A4 (alternatively you can read it from a computer screen). These resources aim to act as a one-stop source for everything students need to know for each of the topics. The sheets are best used when students read a chosen sheet and then ask each other questions chosen from areas covered on the sheet they are looking at.
There are various text boxes, tables and images covering:
- Key terms
- Case studies unique to each topic
- Geographical processes
- Current and future trends
- Costs and benefits of management strategies
Students who use these sheets effectively in combination with other resources should be greatly helped to achieve well in their AS exams.
Please note that this resource is appropriate to the Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Subsidiary GCE in Geography (8GE01) (AS-level Geography in short).
A colourful 25 page workbook which is currently used for a Year 7 Geography intervention class. Could be used in class or as a homework booklet. I would suggest use with KS2/KS3
