3D Shapes Puzzle with Nets and Properties | Matching Activity

18 shapes are included in this matching activity, asking students to match a 3D shape to its name, net and properties. Two versions are included; one where the 3D shapes are solid, and another where the 3D shapes are wire frames so students can see the number of edges etc; a good option for using less ink when printing. Available as part of Matching Activity Bundle One . You may also like: 3D Shapes Flash Cards 2D and 3D Shapes Clip Cards

The dice are numbered 1-3 ( repeated ), 1-6, 5-10 and 7-12 or have 1-3 ( repeated ) or 1-6 dots on them. There is also a blank net for you to draw your own design on or type in characters from your keyboard. Use for learning about 3-D shapes and nets, for practising basic arithmetic or for probability experiments. Stick weights inside to create a biased dice. This is a worksheet/investigation/activity that can be used to decipher the nets of 3d shapes. I'm sorry but the extension won&'t come out on this document, but all you need to do is draw spots on the nets and draw corresponding spots on the correct side of the cube. The base square also needs colouring.

3d Shapes- introduction lesson

I am a trainee teacher and designed this basic but very useful powerpoint to introduce 3d shapes to KS1 children. My starter is recapping on the 2d shapes that the children already know, to reinforce that knowledge as its being covered in the previous lesson. Alongside this is a worksheet that I would get my middle group to complete just so they can write down the basic information that they have learnt Hope this helps someone :)

this resource contains 16 challenges linked to the new year 5 maths curriculum. Each challenge is designed to challenge, assess and stretch the learning of the key objectives. At the top of each slide is the direct objective that the challenge matches to. This is an ideal assessment piece as it will test if they really understand and can apply the new national curriculum. other year groups/focus pieces are available in my shop. Objectives convert between different units of metric measure (for example, kilometre and metre; centimetre and metre; centimetre and millimetre; gram and kilogram; litre and millilitre) measure and calculate the perimeter of composite rectilinear shapes in centimetres and metres calculate and compare the area of rectangles (including squares), and including using standard units, square centimetres (cm2) and square metres (m2) and estimate the areaidentify 3-D shapes, including cubes and other cuboids, from 2-D representations know angles are measured in degrees: estimate and compare acute, obtuse and reflex angles draw given angles, and measure them in degrees (o) identify: angles at a point and one whole turn (total 360 o) angles at a point on a straight line and 1 2 a turn (total 180 o) other multiples of 90 o use the properties of rectangles to deduce related facts and find missing lengths and angles distinguish between regular and irregular polygons based on reasoning about equal sides and angles of irregular shapes solve comparison, sum and difference problems using information presented in a line graph complete, read and interpret information in tables, including timetables
