Year 6 Easter Escape Room- Maths

(0)
Solve 6 maths problems linked to the National Curriculum to find 6 clues. Use the digits to escape the room! You can use this as a standalone maths activity but I use this in a physical way. Put each clue up in a different area (school hall, classroom or outside space) and get pairs/ groups of children to visit each station to gather their clues. They do not need to be solved in chronological order. Once they have the final 6 digits they have one more puzzle to solve to enter them in the right order. Visit the teacher/ adult in charge once they think they have to correct combination! Areas covered are: *fractions *volume *long multiplication & division *algebra * coordinates * ratio This resource is very similar to the Year 5 version but has a slightly more difficult fraction and calculation activity suitable for the Year 6 curriculum.

This Qwizdom has been designed to target the first 10 questions of a Foundation GCSE Paper. It has a macro built in that will randomise the questions. Each topic has 4-9 questions, ranging in difficulty. Topics include; *Index Laws *Expanding brackets *Shape names *Fractions of amounts *Shape properties *solving equations *Squares, cubes and roots *Naming angles *Ratio sharing *Averages *Area and Perimeter *Parts of a circle *BIDMAS *Types of triangle *Making numbers *Fractions to decimals to percentages *Equivalent fractions *Percentage of an amount *Percentage increase and decrease *Substitution *Column vectors *Negative powers *Fractional powers *Rounding to DP, SF and tens hundreds thousands *Ratio as fractions *Midpoints of 2 coordinates *Algebra terminology *Collecting like terms *Multiples *Converting time *Venn diagrams *Probability *Linear tables *Recipes *Reflections *Enlargements *Vertical and horizontal mirror lines *Lines of symmetry *Congruency *Rotations *Rotational symmetry *Forming expressions *Angles *Parallel lines *Probability tables *Angles in triangles *2 way tables *Error intervals *Converting units *Prime numbers In order for it to be different every time, when you open it, view the slides on slide sorter and move them about for about 30 seconds. This will allow the random button to pick a new path every time and stop the same questions popping up.

Transformations Mystery Picture Pack!

(2)
Transformations Pack: Students must reflect, rotate and translate different shapes to reveal the secret pictures! Pack contains: Translations Mystery Picture Suitable for younger students just learning translations and vectors. Reflections Mystery Pictures 1 & 2 Also suitable for younger students just starting to learn about reflections in a mirror line. The second version uses the co-ordinates axes and the line y = -x as mirror lines. Rotations Mystery Pictures 1 & 2 Students will need to be able to rotate 90 degrees and 180 degrees about a point. Most students will need tracing paper. The first version is on the co-ordinate plane and all rotations are about the origin. Mixed Transformations Pictures 1 & 2 These activities require students to use translations, reflections and rotations. Combined Transformations Pictures 1 & 2 These are the most difficult pictures to complete and require students to do multiple transformations to each object in order to find its place. The second picture takes place on the co-ordinate plane. Answers are included and can be checked at a glance, making it easy for students and teachers to know whether things are on track!

This is Day 3 (probably 2 sessions) of a unit of work for teaching Position and Direction objectives in year 2. The children will love the Mr Whirligig character and his inherent dizziness and silliness, who will guide them through this great fun lesson! In this resource pack, you will find: Lesson plan, differentiated worksheets (LA, MA, HA plus a challenge sheet for deeper understanding/mastery), answer sheets for all activities, interactive PowerPoint, support materials and flipcharts for whole class teaching (in ActivInspire, PowerPoint and PDF format). This pack will save you hours of planning, resourcing, differentiating, finding challenging activities and generating flipcharts all for an amazing price. In addition, worksheets are uploaded in both PDF and Word. Day 3 gets the children compass directions to describe…well direction. Mr Whirligig and his friends are lost in the woods! Objectives Covered: Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anti-clockwise) The whole unit of work… Year 2 Position & Direction Unit of Work More like this… Year 2 Fractions KS1 Singapore Maths Year 2 Mental Arithmetic Year 2 Maths and Science Assessments

Describing Enlargement on a Graph Axis

(0)
This is a worksheet and accompanying PowerPoint which include the questions and the answers. The task is for the pupil to describe the transformation (in this case enlargement). The pupil needs to identify the centre of enlargement and the scale factor. These are similar to the questions which might be asked on a G.C.S.E. paper. The worksheet is two sides of A4 and contains 12 questions. Also included is a PowerPoint with the same questions as on the worksheet followed by the answers to the questions on the worksheet. Two questions per page including the answers so students can self or peer assess. The images from the PowerPoint slides can be copied and pasted into most of the various interactive whiteboard files for use in a different presentation media.

This resource is comprises of two pages. Children are asked to draw the reflection of polygons in a given mirror line. They then have to write the coordinates of the reflected shape (first quadrant only). They are then presented with more shapes alongside their reflection and have to identify and draw the mirror line in the correct place. Suitable for upper KS2 or lower KS3
