There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. A lesson all ready to go. The objective for pupils is to use their knowledge of equivalent fractions to develop an understanding of the links between percentages and decimals. Stater activity checks understanding of comparing two fractions through equivalent fractions. The first main part of the lesson uses knowledge of equivalent fractions to convert fractions to decimals and percentages by converting to an equivalent fraction out of 100. Pupils then learn to convert fractions to decimals and percentages through using short division, introducing recurring decimals. Pupils then practice applying their new knowledge to ordering a mixture of fractions, decimals and percentages. This is a Y6 SATs revision Reasoning treasure hunt. I have taken questions from the Reasoning paper samples, and I have rewritten them. There are 24 Green [easy], 24 Yellow [middle] and 24 Red [tricky] questions. I have laminated them and strung them around the school.
