A Level Media Studies - Theories and Theorists Knowledge Organiser

(3)
A revision resource for A Level Media Studies focused on the WJEC Eduqas specification and the theorists listed in the exam board Teaching Guides. I encourage my students to highlight the sections on the sheet as we cover the material. It also serves as a basis for checking knowledge later on. It is designed to fit on a single side of A4 paper, though it scales decently to A3 for displaying. The two-page resource summarises each theoretical viewpoint briefly and organises the theorists according to the appropriate theoretical framework. This resource pairs reasonably well with the A Level Media Studies - Exams Structure and Theories knowledge organiser available on the store. Both the .pdf and the .pub are included so that you can customise it to your teaching groups.

Photoshop For Beginners (Photoshop Tutorial)

(1)
This booklet is intended for Secondary School students and above. What is included within the booklet is four chapters worth of information to help get pupils started when working on Photoshop. It is useful because it can be used as a handout for the students to take home with them and continue their learning and also it can be useful for students if they continue to use Photoshop past lesson time. The learning objectives can be learning how to utilize Photoshop properly by learning various shortcuts and different types of ways to manipulate images into a desired look. The chapters can be taught one lesson at a time or you can choose to do multiple chapters in a lesson or even possibly spread out certain chapters (such as layers) over a longer period of time. This links to any creative design curricula where Photoshop work will need to be used and can also be used within I.T when working on design ideas. This booklet could be used as a handout for students when teaching the subject of using Photoshop or it can be used for teachers to possibly test students about what they know. Overall this resource is very useful for anyone teaching the Photoshop subject or possibly wanting to brush up on their own knowledge of Photoshop

GCSE Film Studies Revision booklet

(0)
This booklet is designed to cover a broad range of topics and ideas related to both GCSE Film Studies exams. The tasks are designed to be open to all and every film choices and designed as actual revision tasks, but ones that get harde and more indepth as the tasks develop. This booklet then works best when you already have studied the individual films and topics needed and just need to revise those key ideas in a practical manner. Your download will contain 3 versions of the same resource: a HQ PDF, an editable Word version and a highly useful PPT version. Overall though, this document contains work for at LEAST a months worth of lessons if students were revising every day and if used in classes, probably enough for an entire TERM. Take a look here if you’d like to see what the whole thing looks like. Throughout you will see references to ’30 Days of Film Revision’: the original plan was to include 30 different tasks that could be completed one day at a time leading up to the day of the Component 1 exam. There are actually 31 activities in total now, in part because I added an extra day to relax, but also to include additional material that focuses on each exam in specific focus; these are the final “exam on a page’ resources you will find on pages 31 and 32. When designing this booklet, I have done so with the methodology of recalling more generic, broad ideas at the beginning and then eventually becoming more focused and nuanced on specific films and possible exam questions. I also incorporated techniques related to spaced learning, interleaving and dual encoding and for this reason it may seem as though the tasks and ideas are being repeated or are revised once and then pop up again later on. Finally, I find this booklet works best when printed and photocopied to A3 size allowing for more space to write, but it was designed and therefore works well, at A4 size, ideally as one complete booklet with a page completed each day.

What is an infographic? Fully-resourced and differentiated lesson.

(1)
A fully-resourced and differentiated lesson to teach students what an infographic is and the purpose of one. I have used this lesson both in teaching English (looking at purposes of texts or for a way to present student research) or as part of teaching GCSE Media Studies. I have included it as one-lesson but it could easily be split into multiple lessons in which students research a chosen topic and then create a final version of their own infographic.
