Y6 RE Unit Part 1 - Does belief in Akhirah help Muslims to lead good lives? based on Discovery

(1)
This is a 5 lesson unit (Part 1) about Islam and Akhirah for Year 6, based on Discovery education resources. Part 1 is ‘How does belief in Akhirah help Muslims lead good lives and how does faith help people with faith deal with matters of life and death?’ Part 2 is also available and follows on from this unit covering concepts of ‘jihad’ in greater depth. This unit comprises 5 lessons based on the following learning questions: Lesson 1: What is a ‘good’ life? Lesson 2: How do Muslim’s lead good lives? Lesson 3: What is Jihad? Lesson 4: What do Muslim’s believe about heaven? Lesson 5: How well does faith help people cope with matters of life and death? *I always plan for 5 lessons to ensure there is a lesson spare in a 6 week unit to explore one further or spend some time coming back to something the children did not fully understand - or to complete tasks. It allows for a lesson to go over two sessions, if required, in greater depth. All lesson PowerPoints (both in PPT and PDF format). All support docs/files for each lesson (both Word and PDF). Planning document covering each lesson with differentiation/extension opportunities. Please leave a positive review if you like this resource to let others know! Many thanks in advance.

In this engaging lesson, students gain a deeper understanding of the Noble Eightfold Path - the eight practices governing the lives of Buddhists. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Defining what the Eightfold Path is; -Breaking down the different practices that make up the Eightfold Path; -Establishing why Buddhists follow the Eightfold Path; -Thinking about how they can apply the principles of the Eightfold Path to their own lives; -Considering a deeper thinking extension question; -Completing a plenary to assess their understanding. This resource pack contains a comprehensive Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. WE Volunteer Now Secondary Lesson Package

(1)
WE Volunteer Now is a package of lessons that teaches students that no matter what their gifts and talents are, they can use them to take action in their local community. By linking students’ gifts to issues that they feel passionately about, they can be empowered to make a positive change in the world around them. From reducing litter to helping to combat local hunger, students will see how different people have used their gifts to bring about change and how they can do the same. Each lesson in the package is organised into starters, main activities and plenaries, with suggestions for differentiation. Clear learning objectives and success criteria following Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning ensure progression within each lesson and the package as a whole. These lessons develop many aspects of character education and SMSC with a holistic and tangible approach, encompassing local and global social awareness and action, and empowering young people to make positive changes in the world around them.
