Writing Feedback for OCR GCSE

We are trying to mark pieces of extended writing along the new GCSE schemes from Year 9 onwards. We like Rachel Hawkes' tick grids very much and have incorporated it into our feedback sheet. Many thanks, Rachel for yet another fab idea! Could also be used for peer assessment. German example given here.

A list of most non-cognates that marks in the foundation and higher tier OCR Spanish GCSE Reading and listening papers have relied on (or other words that follow directly from the word relied on) since the 2009 new specification (Specimen to 2013) There are around 230 in total. Some – colours, numbers, days, connectives – are not included and this is not exhaustive – but is shorter for last minute revision purposes than the OCR list of 48 pages. Same as the Spanish version already up.

OCR GCSE Vocabulary Revision - Pointless Game

Twist on the popular game show! I use one topic at a time as a lesson starter for quick revision. Students work in small teams. They need to write 5 words under each sub-section of the OCR topic areas (they could just recall vocabulary they know or use the OCR Vocabulary List). If another team has the same word, they need to cross it off. If no other team has this word, they score a point. The team with most points at the end are the winners! This game works well to motivate students who can get quite competitive! Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Tasks are not the actual controlled assessment that they do but a mock to get them into the swing of CAs. We allow them to record at home and have modified the tasks to fit each class. Basically - if it's useful to you great - change it at will!

Used in a highly successful comprehensive language department for students from year 9-year 11. Helps to build important vocab related to the bedroom, including prepositions of place. Used for AQA course but also of use to Edexcel and OCR. We have found the resources takes about 10-20 minutes for students to complete and can be used to create interactive, engaging lessons. Keywords: quiz, interactive activity, lesson activities, starter, french quiz, vocab test, vocab builder GCSE French

I created this as a way of monitoring progress as a result of past paper practice. The spreadsheet automatically determines the GCSE grade for both foundation and higher tier for each paper, though you will have to keep your own record of which student took which paper (perhaps highlight the grade in the tier column of the paper they sat?). I have included the raw mark grade boundaries for each paper; if you spot any errors, please feel free to give a shout! This could be adapted for use with written and spoken controlled assessments too; I just haven't gotten round to that yet. Hope you find this useful - please comment if you have any suggestions for improvement (or even if not)! Enjoy! Miss P
