Live Theatre Evaluation - GCSE Drama Booklet

(4)
This booklet is perfect to help students understand what elements of live performance to include in writing a Live Theatre Evaluation. It can be used for any live performance. It features focused headings. This booklet is to help students note down their initial ideas in the first stages after watching their live performance. It does not help structure answers or include exemplars. I have found that this booklet works well when set as independent work after watching a live performance, or also used as a teacher-led activity in lessons. I have based this on the OCR (1-9) GCSE Specification however it can very easily be used for other specification.

OCR GCSE Drama - Blood Brothers Knowledge Organiser

(0)
This Blood Brothers Knowledge Organiser is a double sided A4 page. The front page states the key factual information about Blood Brothers that students should know before they sit Section A of the written paper. The second page features different types of questions that may be asked in Section A. It does not provide specific answers for the students, but allows students to guide their own revision by recognising what areas they are weak in. This would be perfectly used either on it’s own to test knowledge of Blood Brothers or alongside other resources during lesson time/independent study. The information is clear and simple.

Theatre Lighting/Tech Lesson

(0)
This PPT aims to help any Drama teacher to inform their class about the basics of Theatre lighting/tech. It covers: the lights, the control systems, LED vs tungsten/halogen, stage ligting, auditorium lighting, moving heads and a glossary of terms. The slides contain basic information in the hope of avioding ‘death by powerpoint’ but the notes section for each slide has much more detail, so you should sound fairly knowledgable if you printed them off and read from them. There is no activity within this lesson however as there is no way for me to know what resources you might have available. So think of this as more of a chalk and talk or lecture type PPT. If nothing else i hope it provides enough relevant info for you to feel equiped to deal with the subject matter right up to GCSE level. If there is anything in this lesson you feel is incorect or missing then please let me know and i will be happy to ammend.

Missing Dan Nolan Exploration

This PowerPoint is a whole scheme of work on Missing Dan Nolan to use with Year 10/Year 11 for the Component 3 set text for the Drama GCSE. It is intended to be used to initially explore Missing Dan Nolan, but could be used as a recap if previously read and explored. The PowerPoint uses top band example answers to exam style questions, and has multiple tasks per lesson for students to practically explore the text whilst understanding how to answer an exam question. Each lesson links to an exam style question, and the tasks support this focus, so students are finding links between practical exploration and the written exam. All areas of focus for the exam are covered. Students are encouraged to explore through the eyes of an actor, director, and designer of lighting, sound, set, props and costume. The PowerPoint includes 16 lessons over 54 slides.

OCR Drama mock exam analysis

This power point was created for my year 11 Drama GCSE students after they completed the 2019 OCR Drama exam as a mock. It goes through each question of the 2019 paper, discussing mistakes made by the students, how they should have answered the questions and giving model answers. The paper was answered using Blood Brothers as a set text and for Section B the model answer is based on the play ‘The Woman in Black’ but will be helpful for any student of OCR Drama who wants help on how to structure answers and what the examiners are looking for. You may want to adapt this power point for your students as some of it is quite personal to my class.
