However, a mysterious outcast lives to the North of the town; this outcast hates Christmas and anything to do with the festive time of year. This outcast is called the Grinch!
The play follows the story of Cindy-Lou and her family as they open up to the Grinch, and try to show him what Christmas is all about. However, the Grinch has his own plans to ruin Christmas for the town, and steals all the presents on Christmas eve.
He has a change of heart however when he hears the town enjoying Christmas even though he had stolen all of the presents. His heart grows and he quickly returns the gifts and takes part in all the festivities.
There are song recommendations throughout the script, with a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and modern songs. There are 28 speaking parts, with additional non-speaking roles too for up to 30 students. The play is around 40-50 minutes long.

Elf tells the story of ‘Buddy the Elf’ who was accidentally taken to the North Pole in Santa’s sack one Christmas Eve. He stayed in the North Pole until adulthood and grew up thinking he was an elf himself. One day he found out he was a human, and decided to go and visit his biological father in New York.
On arrival he wasn’t welcomed by his father until a DNA test reassured him that he was actually his son. The family grew to like Buddy, and he also found a girlfriend – but then everything changed when he fell out with his father one day and decided to leave.
But as he was walking alone he heard a crash in Central Park, when he went to investigate he noticed it was his good friend, Santa. The family caught up with him and realised he had been telling the truth all along, he was in fact an elf from the North Pole. The friends and family all worked together to lift Christmas spirit and thus power Santa’s sleigh to ensure he could finish his deliveries.

A funny Christmas play script called Santa’s Successor. The script follows the story line of a man who accidentally disrupts Santa’s deliveries and has to take over his route before finding his way to Santa’s work shop.
After causing Santa to fall from his rooftop, the man and his two young sons have to finish Santa’s deliveries for the night, and then the reindeers fly them to the North Pole. Once there, they are greeted by two elves, who explain how he must become the new Santa. He then slowly starts turning into Santa, which everybody else finds hard to believe!

A short playscript suitable for a KS2 class to perform linked to topic work on the Tudors. With dancers and musicians it would work with a whole class. I taught the children the pavane and some other dances to perform and the musicians played the music. It could form part of a class assembly or a performance to other year groups.
You’ve heard of Cinderella, now it’s time to meet Elferella! Follow three children’s journey to get Elferella’s shoe back to her after finding it amongst their presents on Christmas morning!
An upbeat, fun Christmas play script.
Originally written for Key Stage 1 with class songs throughout but suitable for all levels.
This script was written to include performances from a whole school. Our version was filmed and pieced together to be shown via projection at assembly and sent out to parents. However, this could easily be performed in person. There are some topical/local refernces which can be changed to suit your area and school.
A Tudor Christmas Play Script.
This play describes a typical Christmas in Tudor times in a humorous way. It has 10 characters, Henry, Catherine, Anne Boleyn, Maria de Salinas, Lord of Misrule and 2 typical families celebrating Christmas. There are opportunities for 22 Narrators and 3 none speaking acting parts.
There are 2 songs included in the script; Ding Dong Merrily on High and We Wish you a Merry Christmas (both songs date back to the 16th Century).
Including the songs it takes around 20 minutes.
Additional Resources needed are;
Costumes
Willow hoop decorated in mistletoe (we used a hula hoop decorated in printed out leaves)
gold jug
boar speres (we used drew a sword and stuck it to a meter ruler
2x hobby horses (we printed a picture of a horse, blew it up to A3 and stuck it to a meter ruler) and the swords above.
A couple of cups.
39 speaking parts, approximtely 15 non-speaking parts plus dance troupe and choir - these can be edited to suit your school.
Lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Ideal for KS2.
Option for inserting your own song choices - I began with some well loved Chistmas carols and then used more traditions Christmas hymns/carols throughout the play script.
This really warmed the hearts of our audiences and even brought a tear to some eyes!
Quite a traditional play script as written for a C of E primary, but without being too dry.
Opportunity to personalise some parts to your school too.

This is a play script for Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’. It tells the story of a mean, old man named Ebenizer Scrooge, who runs a dark and miserable buisness. His workers are under-paid and over-worked, especially his assistant Bob Cratchett.
It is Christmas eve and his Bob asks for the day off to spend time with his family, and sick child – Tiny Tim. Scrooge almost refuses but decides to just dock his pay for the day. Then, that evening he gets a visit from his previous business partner – another miserable person called Jacob Marley.
Marley tells him he needs to change his ways or end up with the same fate as him; he tells him how he will be visited by three ghosts that night. The ghosts visit and show Scrooge various things that upset him enough to change his ways.
After the visits of the ghosts Scrooge wakes up on Christmas day a changed man and tries to put right all the wrongs he has caused over the previous decades!
There are song recommendations throughout the script and roles for 19 speaking parts, with extra roles for up to 30 students.

This is a play script for William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which has been rewritten to be suitable for ages 9 to 14. A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells the story of four Athenian lovers who have a complicated yet dramatic love life. Lysander and Hermia loved each other and wished to be together. Helena loved Demetrius, but Demetrius loved Hermia, and Hermia’s father wanted him to marry his daughter.
Hermia and Lysander decided to run off together into the woods. But the woods were haunted by the Fairy King and Queen - Oberon and Titania, and the King’s mischievous henchman, Puck. The play tells the magical story of the eventual coming together of the four lovers, and Duke Theseus and his bride, Hippolyta.

A funny play loosely based on the Grinch by Dr. Seuss, and the well known movie. The story revolves around the town of Whoville, where all the Whos love Christmas. In fact they love Christmas so much it is all they talk about!
However, a mysterious outcast lives to the North of the town; this outcast hates Christmas and anything to do with the festive time of year. This outcast is called the Grinch!
The play follows the story of Cindy-Lou and her family as they open up to the Grinch, and try to show him what Christmas is all about. However, the Grinch has his own plans to ruin Christmas for the town, and steals all the presents on Christmas eve.
He has a change of heart however when he hears the town enjoying Christmas even though he had stolen all of the presents. His heart grows and he quickly returns the gifts and takes part in all the festivities.
There are song recommendations throughout the script, with a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and modern songs. There are 28 speaking parts, with additional non-speaking roles too for up to 30 students. The play is around 40-50 minutes long.
