This 48-page pack will help you teach your students Global Goals for Sustainable Development published by the UN in 2016 to raise their awareness on global issues with a focus on Global Citizenship, Diversity, Freedom, Poverty, Hunger, and Environmental Issues. While learning many things about global issues and becoming a global citizen, the students will analyze a poem, read two non-fiction texts by Jane Goodall and Nelson Mandela and do the activities about them, write a bio-poem and a biography, an essay and a journal entry, analyze a cartoon and design their own, and prepare a presentation. This resource is a great way to engage students into better understanding the Global Issues within the framework of the texts learned. It forces students to think outside the box and create GIs for the texts studied and form links between different texts. Starter and recap point of environmental solutions, routine verb test, moving on to new vocabulary introduced via a speaking game - students must research new key terms before playing the ‘trap doors’ game. This slide should be printed off for students to make annotations. Grammar point to be elicited from speaking activity: if clause ( foundation) + ext slide for higher ( higher order opinions with subjunctive). Writing task modelled on the exam task types and differentiated: foundation writing out 4 full sentences in relation to a picture and higher 90 word task. Plenary activity encourages peer feedback, very student friendly yet focused on exam assessment criteria of word count, bullet point coverage, quality and accuracy of message.
