Number Matching and Counting with Doggy Where's Your Bone Rhyme

(0)
Number recognition and counting with one-to-one correspondence with the nursery rhyme, Little Dog Where’s Your Bone is sure to bring a lot of smiles to the children as they are learning important counting, number recognition, and language skills. Set includes 10 dog bones, 10 dogs with numbers on them, and the rhyme. The rhyme included is Little Dog, Little Dog where’s your bone? Somebody stole it from your home? Could it be you? Maybe the monkeys at the Zoo? Wake up Doggy! Find your bone! Choose one child to be the Dog and give one child in a whole group the bone. All children hide their hands behind their backs. The child hiding their eyes chooses a few classmates to find the bone. Once they find it they count the dots on the bone and match it with one of the dogs on the white board. This rhyme can be used in whole group, small group settings, and even individual center work time. This is a game that incorporates language development as children chant rhyming words, one-to-one correspondence, and number recognition to 10. This is a great way to engage our earliest learners in a game of hiding the little dog’s bone and matching the bone with the correct dog. I hope you enjoy this resource!

Nursery Rhymes - Poetry You Should Know PowerPoint. 25 nursery rhymes from Mother Goose to teach students of all ages who may not be familiar with them. Promotes cultural literacy. This can be a great introduction to a poetry unit, and students can research some of the history and meanings of the old rhymes. Some of the poems had religious and other historical meanings. The slides have illustrations, and some of the rhymes have tunes associated with the slides. I have read aloud some of the rhymes. Younger students will enjoy the rhymes, and this projected on your whiteboard can supplement your nursery rhyme unit. Also use with older students to teach alliteration, repetition, and other sound devices and figurative language used in poetry. Updated July 2015. Includes the following rhymes: Baa Baa Black Sheep Banbury Cross Diddle Diddle Dumpling Georgy Porgy Hey Diddle Diddle Humpty Dumpty Jack and Jill Jack Sprat Little Boy Blue Little Bo Peep Little Polly Flinders Mary Mary Quite Contrary One Misty Moisty Morning Polly Put the Kettle On Pussy-Cat and the Queen Rain Rain Rock-a-bye Baby Simple Simon Sing a Song of Sixpence Solomon Grundy Three Blind Mice To Market To Market Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee Wee Willie Winkie
