GERMAN CHRISTMAS BINGO

GAMES WITH GOALS! LOTS OF FESTIVE FUN WITH THESE GERMAN CHRISTMAS BINGO GAME! Bingo really is an ideal activity for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. The pack includes 10 non-editable files in a zipped format: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl. You might prefer to laminate the grids, especially if you are printing in color - students can use wipe-clean pens, and you can recycle the grids many times. Color and B&W. 40 GERMAN word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). Color & B&W. 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). Color & B&W. 4 12-square grid template for students to create their own word or picture grids for each other. B&W. 10 jumbo picture-only 24-square grids. Distribute the grids among students, several grids per student. Color & B&W. 1 GERMAN and 1 English calling card, with all the words written in full These games are designed for players to cross off all the words or pictures on their grids in order to win the game. GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CHRISTMAS BINGO! Before playing, read all the words out loud in GERMAN several times, with students repeating carefully - this not only helps students develop their GERMAN pronunciation, but also introduces them to words they may not actually know. There are some nice long words to encourage students to look very closely! Students can also have their own calling card to read out loud from, one for a small group of students is sufficient - this will help them to link sound and spelling in GERMAN. The words focus on definite and indefinite article, plural and singular, masculine, feminine and neuter, which maximizes opportunity to practice grammatical concepts too. Give students a little time to have a quick look over their grids first. Create bingo teams, each with a CHRISTMAS team name - playing competitively in teams keeps up a lively pace! For each game, select a different Christmas word as the ‘winning word’ for students to call out when they win the game. Students must recite all the words in their grids to check that they have actually won - also giving another opportunity for practicing language. Call out GERMAN words for GERMAN grids, GERMAN words for English grids, and English words for GERMAN grids to vary the challenge. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully. GERMAN CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHESQuick View

GERMAN CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS IN GERMAN WITH A REALLY FESTIVE FEEL! Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in GERMAN, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 33 GERMAN CHRISTMAS WORDS, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some GERMAN Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicholas and Knecht Ruprecht. There are 5 GERMAN to ENGLISH grids, where students are prompted with the GERMAN words, and look for them in GERMAN in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an ENGLISH word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 ENGLISH to GERMAN grids, where the prompt words are given in ENGLISH, and learners have to find the GERMAN equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in GERMAN, they also complete the GERMAN word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. I’ve included a reference sheet in both GERMAN and English - print double-sided, and either laminate it to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general reference resource. Students will have to look carefully at some of the words they’re looking for, as they may appear slightly differently - for example, they may have to find ‘CANDLE’ and work out what that is in GERMAN - only the prompt DIE ADVENTSKERZE appears in the reference list. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the CHRISTMAS season. Students do like the challenge of working their way through a number of grids on one go! There are two versions of the word searches and keys - either with a color or B&W background — you may prefer to print in B&W to keep prep costs down. Laminate the answer keys if you can - they’ll last for many CHRISTMASTIMES to come! The resource consists of six non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. VIELEN DANK UND FROHES WEIHNACHTSFEST!

GERMAN CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS

PERFECT FOR CREATING A FESTIVE FEEL IN YOUR CLASSROOM AND IDEAL FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTICING AND REVISING GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 - 36 CHALLENGE CARDS WITH RECORDING SHEET AND FULL ANSWER KEY! GERMAN CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of GERMAN numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling numbers in GERMAN. The cards are useful not only for a focus on Numbers 0-31, but also as a starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as often as you can in lessons during the run-up to CHRISTMAS, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in GERMAN, but also to enjoy working with GERMAN, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The questions and design provide lessons with a real festive feel - I’ve included a mini-reference list to help students with their GERMAN CHRISTMAS words - one or two per small group of students is sufficient. The cards do look great printed in color, though I’ve also included a B&W version to help keep costs down. The resource comprises the following 6 files: * 2 sets (color/B&W) of 36 cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Depending on how long you want the activity to last for, choose a particular number of cards per small group of students, and place them in a tin, bowl or small box so that students can easily select a card, and then replace at the end of the activity. You can simply place all the cards in the bowl/box and let students work their way through, either in a single lesson, or across a series of lessons - I’ve found 10-15 minutes across several lessons can work really well. Students do need to remember to file their recording sheets carefully! * 2-page answer recording sheet (x2 - color/B&W). Best printed double-sided. * 2-page answer key (x2—color & B&W), again best printed double-sided, and laminated for longevity. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Students find this reference sheet really useful - download it for free here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-reference-sheet-11759027 The resource comprises 6 non-editable files in a zipped format. HAPPY CHRISTMAS IN 30 LANGUAGES BANNERS

CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Create a fabulous and festive multilingual Christmas feel in your learning environment with HAPPY CHRISTMAS BUNTING IN 30 LANGUAGES! I’ve used the Latin alphabet throughout. Print the bunting on card stock if possible, as it will hang really nicely, and last a lot longer! Paper is fine too as an alternative. The bunting hangs best using mini-pegs on string, but also looks good pinned directly to walls as a horizontal poster display. I like to cut out the triangle shape, particularly if I’m hanging the bunting on string across a particular space, but you can also print out and hang as an A4 poster if you prefer, as that’s a little less prep-intensive! B&W works well, but colour is best if possible! The languages featured for CHRISTMAS 2017 are: * Albanian * Bulgarian * Catalan * Croatian * Czech * Danish * English * Esperanto * Estonian * Finnish * French * German * Greek * Icelandic * Irish Gaelic * Lithuanian * Norwegian * Polish * Portuguese * Romanian * Russian * Scottish Gaelic * Serbian * Spanish * Swedish * Welsh Revisit for CHRISTMAS 2018 for new languages!
