With this activity, students will practice evaluating expressions using the order of operations as they have fun coloring! Students will reveal a beautiful, colorful mandala as they simplify expressions using the order of operations and then color the picture accordingly. This activity uses only basic order of operations (no nested parentheses or brackets) and only has one problem each with exponents and distributive property. It is aimed for students who do not yet use calculators (4th - 7th) and is a fun way to review essential arithmetic skills! Give your students something they'll enjoy doing as they fine-tune their skills! This activity is great for sub plans, enrichment, early finishers, extra practice, or just plain fun. This Teach, Practise, Extend PowerPoint resource focuses on the order of operations and is linked to the Year 6 National Curriculum. In total there are a eleven slides: Slides 1 - 8 (teach) - Detailed teaching presentation on the order of operations Slides 9 (practise) - Children practice calculations (see diagram), these come with answers. Slide 10 and 11 (extend) - Children need to apply their skills by solving problems. Slide 11 contains the answers with examples of possible working out. The resource is colourfully designed and can clearly be seen from a distance making it ideal to display on the Interactive Whiteboard and providing you with a straightforward and highly effective teaching resource. Great for a lesson starter, revision or early morning activity. It is aimed at the Year 6 maths objective but can be used at any time during KS2. The slides can be edited to suit the needs of your class but this resource, including the images must not be distributed to others without our permission.

My S1 (Scottish curriculum) loved this worksheet - all pupils were able to access the work and they really enjoyed being able to go up in difficulty!
