This piece may be as simple or as challenging as teachers and their students wish. It is intended to be used as flexibly as possible. It is based upon ‘indeterminacy’ and through performer choice, each performance will be different. The inspiration for this piece comes from ‘summer by the sea’ but it is intended that teachers and their students interpret the fragments as they wish.
It may be used as a stand-alone piece for performance, as a warm-up to a music or singing lesson or as a unit of work.
The fragments may be performed using voices, any percussion and/or tuned instruments. The fragments may be performed in unsion, groups or in nine parts.
It is intended to be a companion piece to my free resource ‘Spring’.
The set includes; Teacher Notes;
Score of nine fragments;
Creative planning grid for Key Stage 2 with ideas for lessons and activities.
Instrumentation
The notation is for voices, any percussion instruments and /or tuned instruments.
Aims
The piece is intended to support the aims and develop the skills set out in the National Curriculum for Music for Key Stages 2 and 3. (2013) and ABRSM music medals. This unit of work also supports ‘A national Plan for Music Education’ (2022, pp.15 -34).

Back by popular demand for a third year! Our heads of department have once again been hard at work to create a series of predicted exams for Summer 2024!
This is for the following paper: 4BI1 - 1B
These questions are completely original and have been designed from scratch. There has been no reuse of previous exam questions.
Our mock paper follows the format of the true Edexcel IGCSE Biology 1B paper closely, with the CORMS and graph question included. It is also the exact duration and mark-count, with questions of increasing difficulty. A mark scheme is also attached.
The paper covers the following specification points:
• Topic 1b - Variety of living organisms (1.2 - 1.4)
• Topic 2b - Cell structure (2.2 - 2.3)
• Topic 2c - Biological molecules (2.8 - 2.9)
• Topic 2e - Nutrition (2.18 - 2.32)
• Topic 2g - Gas exchange (2.49)
• Topic 3a - Reproduction (3.2 - 3.9)
• Topic 3b - Inheritance (3.14 - 3.39)
• Topic 4b - Feeding relationships (4.6 - 4.9)
• Topic 4d - Human influences on the environment (4.14 - 4.17)
• Topic 5a - Food production (5.5 - 5.8)
Disclaimer: This document was created by department heads with many years of experience teaching the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Biology course. We cannot however guarantee that it is an accurate representation of the 2024 examinations and students should not treat it as such. Please use this as an aid, alongside other methods of revision.
Another helping of my quiz with over 80 questions.
The quiz can be done as individual rounds, so during Tutor Time, or as one big quiz, which should take about 1 hour. Rounds include Hidden Celebrities, Emoji Quiz, Aerial View, Proverbs , Letters, Movies of the Year, News Quiz and TV Theme Tunes.
Answers are at end of the power point but you can navigate back and forward at the end of each round if you want.
Enjoy.

Download our new Summer Performance Poetry Pack, a five-lesson English unit for KS1, based on performing summer poetry.
In this unit, pupils will read a classic summer poem about a baby playing with the sand on the beach. Pupils will have a chance to consider how the sounds and language patterns come alive when the poem is read aloud. There is also a grammar focus on expanded nouns and using command sentences. Children will work towards creating their own version of the summer poem and turning it into an effective performance, which could be used for a summer-themed assembly or celebration.
The aims of the unit for pupils are:
• To listen to a classic summer poem being read aloud
• To use expanded nouns
• To use command sentences
• To prepare a poetry performance including actions
• To perform a poem to an audience
The PDF file contains 5 full literacy lesson plans, copies of the poem and all accompanying pupil resources.
