A one off lesson to celebrate book illustrators. Students will be introduced the work of famous illustrators including, Eric Carl, Beatrix Potter and Quentin Blake.
Task - To design a book mark inspired by famous book illustrations
PowerPoint includes images and links to further examples as well as some book mark templates.
I have created 3 quizzes for World Book Day. There is a quiz for each Key Stage. the quizzes contain a range of activities including, Guess the character, guess the book title, Emoji titles and multiple choice rounds.
There is a range of books included in the quiz, from the classics to newer releases!
It would be great to use in the classroom for World Book Day or also in an assembly.

This is a lesson for World Book Day, on Don Quijote de la Mancha y Miguel de Cervantes.
It is for y7 classes so it is very accessible.
The lesson includes:
A starter: Cuál es la novela? Students have a list of novels in Spanish and need to work out which novel is it!
A mini-translation activity with some interesting facts about the novel
A reading out loud on Carvantes as a pair work
A broken translation based on the reading about Cervantes
I teach in London so I have also included a reference to a painting my students might have seen before which has got to do with Cervantes’ life.
A video- from you tube- with a set of questions student need to answer in English.

Join us for World Book Day 2024 where we’ll be joined by author, Lynne. W. Bailey. Lynne is the author of the middle-grade fantasy book series and will be talking all things books, heroes and villains. There is a resource available for after the event where the children will use Lynne’s tips and tricks create their own superhero or villain and use them in their own story. This lesson consists of access to the World Book Day author workshop with Lynne, lesson plan, a PPT presentation and task worksheets.
This PDF is a Bingo sheet, where students can identify books with different themes, as a fun activity for World Book Day. Themes range from different topics, genres and countries. Students can explore texts different to their usual styles. It can generate discussion in the class, and promote different types of books. It is aimed for KS2 students, but can be used in KS3 and KS4, to generate discussion.
This resource includes a set of 15, A3-size posters containing quotes about books and reading. These posters can be used for display or discussion purposes. They are ideal to use on Book Day.
