German Perfect Tense Verb Wheels

Two verb wheel templates for forming the perfect tense in German. One is for “haben” verbs and one for “sein”, although if you wanted, you could save card/photocopying charges by putting "haben"on one side and “sein” on the other. The sections have been left blank for students to enter their own verbs, but a 3rd slide has been provided with lists of suggested verbs. Obviously, you can choose different verbs or even type the rest in for them to make the activity quicker. I have tried to choose verbs most commonly used by secondary school students. You will also need some split pins for this activity. I’m going to use it as an end of term activity for my year 9 classes who will then put them in their folders at the beginning of year 10.

Ppt presentation I created to collate some fun tried and tested activities to teach the perfect tense to KS4 students. It can be easily adapted to any ability group due to the nature of the activities. It provides an explanation of what it is (uses), time indicators, formation (endings) and main irregular forms. It then includes 4 different activities: a basic sentence translation activity, a never have I ever task to get your students standing up and down depending on whether they’ve done a number of things (18 in total), a differentiated die activity to do in pairs to conjugate verbs in the perfect tense or take it a bit further and ask each other questions based on the given verbs, and finally a list of 26 things students might have or might have not done before they finish school, to practise “ya” and “aun no”.
