Multiplication Olympics - Times Tables - Game - Quiz - Whole School Resources - KS2 - Year 3 4 5 6

(6)
The times table test has been mentioned in the government and we have been using this resource in our school for a while now and it work effectively to improve children's knowledge of their times tables. It is split into 7 levels. I only allow my children to move up if they correctly answer the Olympic sheet 100% correctly on 3 occasions. We tend to do these sheets on Monday's and Fridays as a 3 minute starter. My TA then marks them quickly using the answer sheets but only for children who have answered all questions. As soon as she reaches the first mistake she stops. In the younger classes we give the children a medal each time they move up a podium. In this pack I have included all 7 times table challenge sheets. 7 Answer Sheets. All display resources, as we have made a display of these resources in each of the ks2 classrooms. I have also included my multiplication Olympic tracker which tracks the progress of the children. Finalist Level - We know our 2, 5 and 10 times table and can recall a selection of multiplication and division questions in three minutes Bronze Level - We know our 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times table and can recall a selection of multiplication and division questions in three minutes Silver Level - We know our 3, 4, 6 and 11 times table and can recall a selection of multiplication and division questions in three minutes Gold Level - We know our 7, 8, 9 and 12 times table and can recall a selection of multiplication and division questions in three minutes European Level - We know our tables up to the 12 times table and can recall a selection of multiplication and division questions in three minutes. Olympic Level - We know our tables up to the 12 times table and can recall 100 multiplication and division questions in three minutes. Tough Level - We know our tables up to the 12 times table and can use these to recall facts including those with decimals. Enjoy!

Ratio and Proportion KS2 Bundle!

3 Resources
This stimulating and comprehensive lesson bundle contains a number of engaging and detailed ‘ratio and proportion’ lessons: Ratio and Proportion: Introduction - Students understand the key terms ratio and proportion, and use these mathematical concepts in order to solve number problems involving relative quantities and unequal sharing. Percentage Problems - Students solve a range of problems involving the calculation of percentages, including for measures and comparisons. Similar Shapes - Students use their understanding of ratio and scale factor to solve a number of varied and real-world similar shapes problems. Combined, the lessons enable children to meet and exceed the following curriculum standards: solve problems involving the relative sizes of 2 quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts; solve problems involving the calculation of percentages and the use of percentages for comparison; solve problems involving similar shapes where the scale factor is known or can be found 4. solve problems involving unequal sharing and grouping using knowledge of fractions and multiples. Each lesson follows a clear step-by-step learning journey, in which children learn through: -Defining, exemplifying, and understanding the key concepts through clear and simple explanations; -Demonstrating their understanding through well-differentiated (Bronze, Silver, and Gold Challenge) application and challenge activities; -Applying their understanding to real-life problems, for example involving recipes; -Gauging their own understanding through both AfL activities and self-reflection tasks. Included in each lesson is: Whole lesson PowerPoints - clear and precise, colourful and comprehensive; Bronze, Silver, and Gold level award worksheets - carefully differentiated and provided in both Word and PDF; Teacher answer sheets; A detailed teacher lesson plan. Student helpsheets (where appropriate) There are also opportunities for group learning, speaking and listening, peer assessment, and whole class discussion. I originally used these resources with Year 6 (and higher-attaining Year 5) classes, however colleagues have used them for between years 4 and 9 with some minor adaptations. Some of the content really does become quite challenging (especially the Gold sheets) and so these resources could easily be used for KS3 children. Understanding Fractions & Decimals - Practical Activities & Games - Part 1

(1)
A comprehensive guide for parents and teachers to PRACTICAL activities, conversations, chants and games to help young children (ages 5-9) master the early concepts in fractions and decimals. Children often have difficulty understanding fractions and decimals. The approach I have developed, using counters and metre sticks, is great for making it all make sense! I've divided the guide up by age and stage with an A4 page on each concept which you can print for reference in the classroom and also send home for parents to refer to. There are also links to my tablet materials in Wise Owl Maths which can be used for extra consolidation. These are offline currently, but I hope to have them back up and running before too long. The guide is in two parts. This is Part 1. Part 2 is still being written! Part 1 covers Step 1: - Halves - Halving and Doubling - Splitting into Equal Groups Step 2 (includes 4 pupil sheets): - Count, Speak, Write & Draw Halves - Quarters and Quartering - Count, Speak, Write and Draw Quarters - Count, Speak and Write other Fractions - Counting Caterpillar and Tap Say Turn Step 3: - Halves of Metres and Mixed Numbers - Numerator and Denominator - Quarters of Metres and Improper Fractions - Quadruple and Quarter Numbers; Factors Step 4; - Single Place Decimals - Tenths and Halves - Decimals & Equivalences - Tenths and Fifths - Fractions of 12 and 20 - Unit Fractions using Tables - Fifths and Tenths using Tables - Something out of Something as a Fraction - Halves and Quarters with Remainders Let me know if you find this guide useful and it will motivate me to press on with writing Part 2! Enjoy! Rob
