Queen's Platinum Jubilee KS2

(0)
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee lesson for KS2 / KS3 (Year 7) In this lesson, the students will explore the reasons why we are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We will take a detailed look at the key milestones of Queen Elizabeth’s historic reign and reflect on what she means to the British people. The students will order the key events in Elizabeth’s remarkable life, and in doing so create a decorative and informative Jubilee bunting garland. In our plenary task, the students will use their knowledge to design a commemorative Jubilee coin. The lesson includes a starter activity, a video clip with accompanying questions, a chronological bunting activity with associated reflection task, and finally a ‘design a commemorative coin’ plenary task. The lesson is well-differentiated with three-level challenges for each task, contains a variety of activities, a detailed and colourful PowerPoint, clips with differentiated questions, clear measurable LOs and other activities. It is fully editable, engaging and very easy to follow. Who are EC Resources? Headteacher Application - Personal Statement and cover letter. (Successful 2020))

A comprehensive covering letter and personal statement which I wrote during my recent job search. Although it obviously needed to be adapted to suit the needs of each school that I was applying for, I found that having a ‘base’ letter was extremely useful. I was shortlisted for each job I sent this application to (and gained a headship) There was nothing on line at the time that I could use to guide/scaffold me, so I hope that someone finds this useful!

32 lessons - 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' by Onjali Rauf - Year 4/5/6 - English planning

(23)
32 lessons - ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’ by Onjali Rauf - Year 4/5/6 - English planning A whole term’s English planning linked to the book ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’ (Winner of the Blue Peter Best Story Award 2019) by Onjali Rauf. Since its release, this book has been a classroom favourite, covering a topic that is never far from the news. Onjali Rauf writes about the topic of migration and refugees fantastically. I’ve taught this scheme twice now to my class, and both times they’ve all cheered at the end (always a good sign that they’ve enjoyed a book!) There are 32 lessons in total, all with accompanying SMART Notebook screens, task sheets and header sheets. To aid teaching each lesson, there are a total of 193 SMART Notebook screens (in one file) and each lesson is clearly marked along with which lesson each chapter should be read to aid and link to the learning. (Update - In response to many requests, I have converted the SMART Notebook screens to Powerpoint, so there is also a 193 page Powerpoint presentation included for the teaching sequence for those unable to use SMART Notebook.) This teaching sequence and planning will require the children to complete the following tasks over the 32 lessons: writing a recount writing a persuasive letter answering SATs style comprehension questions writing a narrative descriptive writing drama session writing an information text writing a newspaper report I have also included some examples of work for some lessons. This topic will also educate and inform the children of a very current real problem that others in the world face - the plight of the refugee. Using this book will expand their understanding of the world and help them to empathise and appreciate what some of the other children in school may have gone through. Even if you don’t need this scheme of work, I would highly recommend the book to share with the class.

Making Connections - Year 2 Greater Depth Reading

(0)
This resource is perfect for YR2 teachers, it is a set of activity cards which can be used in any KS1 classroom. The cards have the opportunity for children to make links between books (this could be; characters, settings, events in the story, author, writing style and more). The resource encourages children to be independent and chose their own links between the texts - it may be different to peers or the adults. FOR EXAMPLE: Gruffalo and Little Red Riding Hood link because: Both are set in the forest Both have scary hairy creatures in them Both include someone trying to play a trick/joke Both include a character walking through the woods - the list could go on… This activity is open ended and suitable for all learners, the link will always be correct as long as the children are able to explain and give suitable reasons. The books in these sheets are all KS1 suitable books and some which KS1 children will be familiar with. This includes an example card and a guidance for teacher cards. The activity cards would be excellent evidence for the TAF check in Year 2 as well. SEE LINK TO TAF 2018/19: • make links between the book they are reading and other books they have read.

This is an interactive scale to help children identify how they are feeling. It is particularly useful for children for whom emotional regulation is difficult. It includes emojis for pre-readers and is colour-coded for ease of use. It also includes some suggested actions to help moderate moods. The font is also dyslexic friendly. If you choose to download this resource I would be incredibly grateful if you could provide a rating or if you have time a short review. Thank you and best wishes supporting your children to be their best selves. DH
