A quick and easy power point used to teach vowels to year 1 (can also be adapted easily for any other year group or phonics phase.) I have used this in a letters and sounds phonics lesson teaching children both long and short vowel sounds and capital letters. The little you-tube clip attached at the end is also helpful with teaching this (can't take credit for this clip as I didn't create it!) I have also attached a vowel probe I used during the lesson to get the children to apply this knowledge in their reading. I have just used it for the long vowel sound but this can easily be adapted also. Enjoy!

A handy resource for your room based on the National Curriruclum common exception words for Year 3&4. This has a selection of the words from the list which I created for my class, Year 4, but could also be used in Year 3! The words have been divided into terms Autumn-Red Spring- Blue Summer- Green I will be using to teach 1 word a week from the packs discussing the word, its definition and how it can be used in a sentence/quesiton/speech/scenario. Each word has its definition please note I kept some parts of the definitions out as the language was very sophisticated or the example was too sophisiticated for my class it’s up to you whether you wish to include your in your own. The words have their classification N: noun V: verb Adj: adjective Adv: adverb etc I display mine above my IWB in full view of the class and try to incorporate into writing etc for the week! Really effective and easy to use paragraph planner for children in LKS2. I use with my Y4 class. Can be easily adapted to suit any unit of work. I normally add prompts in green and success criteria e.g. use a fronted adverbial here. All planners are themed to the books we’ve studied this year but can be easily adapted to suit any text. Really simple template for writing and maths targets for your children. I keep them in a clear plastic CD wallet so they can be replaced easily throughout the year! Target sheets labelled AUT1-SUM2 Simply copy and paste the picture template into your desired document- please note these are not automatically sized for a CD wallet you’ll have to do a bit of resizing and tweaking so it fits!
