Aiming at Grade 4 - GCSE Maths Revision Workbook

(1)
Here is a complete workbook of Grade 4 topics for GCSE Maths. Answers also included. I created this for my classes this year as they are mixed ability within foundation GCSE. I also made an aiming at grade 2 and aiming at grade 3 workbooks that I will hopefully also upload. They are great for all general work, classwork, homework, revision. To decide on the topics I did some brief analysis of recent papers and what topics came up compared to marks needed for a grade 4. If students are confident on the majority of the topics in this workbook, then they should be able to achieve a grade 4. Note in the top right corner on Page 3 there is a blank space, here I added a QR code to the answers, you could do similar. There are exactly 100 topics covered across: Four Operations Fractions Factors, Multiples and Primes Decimals Percentages Fractions, Decimals & Percentages Rounding Powers and Roots Indices Ratio Algebra Expanding & Factorising Solving Linear Equations Straight Line Graphs Inequalities Angles Angles in Polygons 2D Shapes Perimeter Area 3D Shapes Measure Time Money Compound measure Scale Drawings Transformations Similarity Probability Venn Diagrams Averages & the Range Frequency Tables Scatter Graphs

GCSE Maths Foundation Revision Poster Worksheets

(1)
AImed at GCSE Foundation students. Designed to be printed at A3 size. There are 4 separate posters; Number, Algebra, Shape and Data. They are not comprehensive and so do not cover all topics. They are meant to be a reminder of the basics. I made these for a class who were mainly working at a Grade 4 and needed lots of confidence boosting. They really liked these posters and once completed and they said they put them on their wall at home to remember how to do the questions. They liked the fact that they were hand drawn! Answers provided on a separate file.

Maths in Edexcel GCSE Chemistry REVISION

(0)
This fully-resourced lesson with differentiated resources has been written to prepare students for the range of mathematical-based questions they may face on the two Edexcel GCSE Chemistry papers. The lesson has been designed to contain a wide range of activities which includes 8 quiz competition rounds spread across the duration of the lesson to maintain engagement whilst the students assess their understanding. The mathematical skills covered in this lesson include: Calculating the number of sub-atomic particles in atoms and ions Writing chemical formulae for ionic compounds Identifying isotopes Calculating the relative atomic mass using isotope mass and abundance Using Avogadro’s constant to calculate the number of particles Calculating the relative formula mass Calculating amount in moles using the mass and the relative formula mass Balancing chemical symbol equations Calculating reacting masses Gas calculations using molar volume Calculating concentration of solutions Titration calculations Deducing the empirical formula Calculating energy changes in reactions Most of the resources have been differentiated two ways to allow students of differing abilities to access the work whilst still being challenged. In addition, step by step guides are used to demonstrate how to carry out some of the more difficult calculations such as the harder mole calculations and calculating masses in reactions This lesson could be used with higher ability students on the Edexcel GCSE Combined Science course by taking out the sections which are not applicable.

GCSE Maths Foundation Revision Sheets

(56)
I produced these sheets for some final revision for my Foundation group. They have a range of targets from 1 to 4 so I wanted a mixture of stuff for them - a bit of recall, a bit of applying and a bit of “thinking” questions - the phrase “problem solving” can be a bit off putting for some of them. Let me know what you think.

Transformations - GCSE Maths Revision

(3)
This resource covers both performing and describing transformations. It is designed as a revision resource for foundation AQA students prior to their GCSE examination. It is in publisher and can be printed as a booklet onto A3 paper (folded) in order to turn it into an A4 booklet. There is four pages. Page 1 - teacher demonstrates the four transformations (see image). Page 2 - six practice questions that ask students to perform a variety of transformations / combined transformations. Page 3 - teacher demonstrates how to describe transformation. Page 4 - eight questions that ask students to describe single transformations. Pages 1 and 3 are included in the powerpoint presentation should the teacher wish to demonstrate on the board. Personally, I think it is best to use a visualiser. It covers transformations, reflections (including y=x), rotations and enlargements (positive and fractional). It therefore covers topics tested on AQA Foundation grade 1 to grade 5.

This resource covers maths skills required for Physics GCSE exam questions (combined science physics also). It is a power point with over 70 slides that include; teaching the required skills, practice tasks and selected past exam questions embedded (from EDEXCEL but could be used for any exam board as practice). It is organised in an order that flows from one skill to another with action buttons that take you directly to each skill and home buttons so you can easily return to the home slide. This resource can be used at the start of the GCSE course (by providing pupils with a copy of the equation sheet) or as revision before the exam when pupils should know the required equations. This cannot be done in 1 lesson and could be spread over a number of lessons or dipped into when a skill is required! Much of this is relevant to Biology and Chemistry also. Skills covered are: Standard index units Significant figures Converting units Equations - Substitution Equations - rearranging Standard form Percentage and efficiency Ratios Unfamiliar Equations Graph interpretation Gradients
