The focus of my work is supporting children who have gaps in their early development, that is, from birth to age six.  These early developmental stages cannot be rushed as during this period children are learning how the world works and developing skills to prepare them for their future. There are tasks to be accomplished at each stage of development and until these are satisfactorily explored and experienced the child is not ready to move on to the next stage.  What they need is time because they are laying down the foundations on which their futures will be built.  Unfortunately many children aren’t given the time they need to fully experience each developmental stage.  When this happens they are left with gaps in their development which they carry with them and don’t automatically fill.  So, how can we be sure that any child is ready for school at five?  What about those who are born prematurely, have an August birthday or whose early development was interrupted through circumstances over which they had no control?  If we buy into the belief that the children in this category must be ready to start school at five then it is possible that they won’t have time to complete the tasks necessary for their early development.  I work with children who are in this situation and together with their parents/caregivers devise a program which will provide the positive experiences to right the shaky foundations which cause the child to struggle.  An important part of this work is teaching children emotional literacy which shows them how to get their needs met in an appropriate way, to be empathic and to build healthy relationships. Becoming emotionally literate leads to good mental wellbeing and autonomy which in turn allow our young people to be high achievers on their chosen path and face life’s challenges with confidence.

Bring learning to life in your school with an AquaRoots Aquaponics experience day! AquaRoots enables pupils to gain hands-on, interactive learning experiences with the natural world, right in the comfort of the classroom!

We use aquaponic farming systems to bring the outdoors indoors, and to provide an engaging platform for learning in science, numeracy and literacy. Using our unique Flat-Pack-Farm™ aquaponic systems, we bring the magic of nature into the classroom, and guide students on an exploration of the processes that keep the world alive, and feed the planet. With interactive sessions on anything from camouflage to the nitrogen cycle, AquaRoots can offer a fun, interactive day of activities, led by a specialist aquaponics expert, in your own school.

We offer activities and lessons tailored for KS1-4, designed to reinforce relevant curriculum learning outcomes. We also offer activities accredited by the British Science Association geared at allowing pupils to gain CREST awards. Our activity days make great standalone events in schools, but can also be booked as multi-day packages – e.g. an 8-day CREST Star package for primary schools.

Why aquaponics?

Aquaponics is considered a future farming technique. With a growing population and massive stresses on the farming and food industries, alternative food security pathways need to be developed. Leading the way in the alternative food production revolution is aquaponics, which uses wastes from fish farming as nutrients for hydroponic crop production. Aquaponics is an extremely water efficient farming method that yields both fish and plant crops, and can almost eliminate food miles entirely!

More information and booking

Aquaponic Experience days cost £450, and must be booked in advance – email us on info@aquaroots.co.uk to check available dates in your area, quoting reference “TES” in your booking to receive an exclusive 15% discount!

Divergent Drama is a company run by actors which offers children the chance to create and perform using their own ideas. We offer drama based educational workshops to schools across the UK and provide after school drama clubs for schools that do not have their own. We have also recently begun a Saturday Acting School in Royston (Herts) and run seasonal intensive holiday workshops all around the UK.

Our school workshops complement the national curriculum and give children the opportunity to create a play or scenes using the facts they have learnt in the classroom as inspiration. Existing workshops start at £295 for a full day, this includes two facilitators, workshop material and props. The most popular of our workshops is our E-Safety workshop, which we recently delivered to hundreds of children, to wonderful feedback, working alongside crucial crew. Bespoke workshops are also available on request.

Our drama sessions, including our drama clubs, Saturday school and holiday sessions, aim to encourage creative learning, team building skills and confidence as well as improving vocal and acting technique. We hold a passionate belief that our drama classes are fundamental in giving children the best communication skills for life and to encourage safe and fair play. All of our facilitators are actors so offer children an insight into the industry, they are fully DBS checked. Each term will end with a show back for parents and friends.

Furlong eases the move to SchoolBase by including a full data transfer process, free training and outstanding support – both throughout the move and for the years that follow.

Our team includes former teachers, headteachers and school administrators who form the basis of a company that understands the needs of a school and a company that cares. We aim to be a valued partner with our schools and have organized our services accordingly. Our support teams are highly responsive and our customers say that the help they receive is more like that of colleagues on the same team than of a service provider.

Schools have greater freedom in their decision-making and are being held more accountable for results. Teachers have the freedom that they can work anywhere on their terms. They spend less time on repetitive administrative tasks and increase the time for direct teaching.

Interactive Storytelling workshops, allowing children to step out of the classroom and into their imaginations.

Stories and More will take your children on an adventure, into the magical world of their imagination, with the help of our professional actors in our exciting and unique workshops.   All the action and direction of the live story comes from the children themselves, as they grow in confidence and create a fun, theatrical world.

The children are encouraged to participate in the storytelling to help develop the characters and guide the story along. We have a selection of fantastic stories to choose from or we can create a new story to fit with a particular theme or project. Our sessions are designed to give children a magical and memorable experience that will stay with them beyond the classroom.

The multi award winning Treehouse Forestry Nursery and Out of School Club, the first full time forestry nursery in Essex and the greenest eco-friendly child care provision in Billericay. Being situated in the natural beauty of Norsey Woods in Billericay and Dollymans Farm in Wickford, we have over 165 acres of protected historic woodland for our children to explore and learn.

We focus on the EYFS indoors and outdoors, working with Forest school and Beach school. By working in this way our children are achieving above the national average across the seven areas of learning, comparing our children to the statistics applied to school reception aged children. We believe that this is because the children respond to an environment that is full of happiness, sensitivity, nature and magic that allows each child to grow into a trusting and confident individual who cares about others and the world in which we live.

We have a very special, fantastic team of staff with vast experience working within EYFS, Forest schools and Beach school. Our staff are multi award winning and hand-picked to bring something wonderful to our setting, making it a fantastic place to be for all of our children and staff.

Travellers Through Time connects the public to our shared history through inspiring and engaging experiences. We provide hands-on, interactive, historical experience days to schools, museums, heritage trusts and events.

Travellers Through Time introduces people to the history that is all around them and encourages practical skills and critical, independent thinking. School workshops are carefully linked with Key Stage 2 and create the outstanding teaching and learning experiences OFSTED inspectors expect.

Founder Carla’s training and experiences as a professional stage actor creates workshop experiences that set Travellers Through Time apart. Infused in all of our hands-on workshops are stories of heroes, heroines, Gods, Godesses and reflections of the day-to-day experiences of the people of our past, whilst using a practical approach to learning that gives a rounded experience and inspires young people to both think for themselves and inquire further during ongoing learning.

Workshops come with all materials included and a Teacher’s Pack with activities to build on the Experience Day.
