A poetry workshop was hosted on the Bard’s Birthday by Dr Anjna Chouhan of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The workshop is suitable for students aged 14-19, and includes the following elements: Shakespeare and Theatre: Exploring the language of Shakespeare and how that language is fundamental to theatre and drama;
Breaking down verse: Identifying the tone and message of different passages of text and looking at how that message is informed by the structure.
Examples are taken from a number of texts, including: Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Love&‘s Labour&’;s Lost and As You Like It.
