Guides students through the analysis and annotation of Keats’ ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci’. Offers explanation of Romanticism as introduction to the poem’s context and to develop analysis. This leads onto an optional comparison with Blake’s ‘The Tyger.’ Designed with the Edexcel iGCSE English Literature exam in mind, but can easily be adapted to suit other specs. Includes targeted questioning to check understanding and develop thinking.

Suggested annotations are within the notes sections, so they can be differentiated for different classes. I have delivered this lesson successfully to sets 1, 2 and 3 at GCSE level.
