Students know Batman, Superman and Spiderman, but do they know the Latin equivalents like Kaliman, El gato Negro and El Dorado? Students love this take on a Spanish cultural lesson where they are first introduced to 9 superheroes of Latin America (ppt), and then asked to think about a superpower they would like to have. This is then followed by a project (word doc) that allows them to create their own superhero using ser + descriptions. As an additional element to the lesson I often let students’ superheroes compete in a competition where students describe their superheroes and the class votes on which one would win in a showdown. Think “Batman vs. Superman”
