Poet John Glenday explores his poem 'The Big Push', based on James Herbert Gunn's 1916 painting 'The Eve of the Battle of the Somme'.

Students are guided through creating their own First World War poems in response to Glenday's work and also explore an animated film-poem made of 'The Big Push'.

An excellent way to explore the poetry of the First World War through visual art, and contemporary responses to the conflict.
