This lesson is part of a complete suite of resources for the Eduqas specification, but can easily be adapted to fit other exam boards (OCR, AQA, WJEC, Edexcel).

Given the quantity of content to be covered in the new GCSE specifications, students must be learning the strategies, processes and skills to be able to analyse ANY print product to Level 7/8/9.
This lesson template (to be completed by the teacher for each of the set print products) and accompanying resources ensures learners develop a memorable, repeatable detailed and specific way of analysing print products in depth- ensuring no area is left uncovered!

The template is editable so individual teachers can make any amendments or additions as they see fit- it also enables centres to decide on which order they teach the content.

The ‘Print Products’ SoW this lesson is part of develops learners' ability to analyse any print product, whether set or unseen, through using a memorable, repeatable, detailed and specific approach to analysis. There is continual reference to a number of set texts that are expected to be covered as part of the reformed 9-1 GCSE in Media Studies. As well as exploring the conventions, media language, representations and ideologies embedded within print products, learners will develop their understanding of the key concept of regulation including how and why industries are regulated in the UK (linking to the Component 1 Section B exam paper).

The powerpoint is OK and I like the structure for analysing a print product. However, slide nine refers to students using a representations worksheet which isn't included. This is a shame as the package feels rather incomplete without it.
