A Tarsia activity on proper and improper fractions. These type of activities can be used to consolidate understanding of a given topic, and foster positive group work and co-operative learning. For more ideas on how to use these types of activities (including twists!) and to download the latest version of the wonderful free software to open this resource (and create your own), just click on the web-link. If you have any comments, or spot any (non deliberate!) mistakes, please share them below. Many thanks to all the teachers who have helped me assemble these Tarsias over the years.

This improper and mixed number Tarsia jigsaw can be used in the standard way - the students cut up the pieces and try to assemble them to complete the jigsaw. Or with a few simple edits, it can be made into a rich, challenging activity. Try making 3 deliberate mistakes for the students to find, or replacing a few of the correct answers with blanks to be filled in.

A great activity to get pupils working together. 1 and 3/4 needs changing to 1 and 3/8 though

Really useful activity to use with students. Tarsia jigsaws are engaging, challenging and a great idea for a main activity with just about any topic!
