This resource has been designed for 12 to 15 year olds to help with their **story-writing **and creativity skills, as well as teaching various features of language. Using the medium of comic books and superheroes, which seems to have a very broad appeal, I have tried to create a unit that starts with creating a character and can then lead into writing a story and/or letter. Pupils can also be encouraged to reflect on their experiences of comic books and films to identify techniques like onomatopoeia or alliteration in action.
Differentiation is provided through the various worksheets that break down the different parts of creating a character and a story into bite-size chunks. These frames would not be required for more competent writers but they have helped those who struggle more.
I have used this resource very successfully in a number of schools including Easterhouse, Glasgow, and Lossiemouth, Moray.
