Absolute Balderdash!

These activities are designed for use as a starter or plenary in KS3 or KS4 English. There is also the possibility of use as providing meaningful “cover” work or as an activity for tutor time.
There are 50 different challenges which all follow the same format.
Each challenge displays an obscure work from the extended English language and 4 definitions are offered. Students are challenged to use logic and intuition to select the correct definition. There is also a series of potential extension ion activities in which students are given an obscure word and encouraged to be creative in writing a meaning. This can be an enjoyable group activity as one student will know the correct answer.
