PowerPoint, 2 differentiated menus, 2 differentiated task sheets for adding decimals in the context of money.
I am a trainee teacher and did this for my final observation. Our class room was transformed into 'Maths Cafe', tables were set with a paper plate containing a single flower and a place card with the table number. (I also had an empty table with table cloth and one place setting- near the front of the classroom to set the scene).
Menus and task sheets were inside clipboards that close. As children entered, they were given their 'menus' and taken to their table. Menu adapted from a TES user.
I couldn't find any adding and subtracting decimals that was suitable for my Year 5 lowers - so I made one!
A range of one and two step word problems with increasingly larger amounts of prices. Hopefully someone will find it useful! I kept it as a .pub so you could edit the prices!
Looking at adding small money values. Good practice for adding the smaller coins. Could link it to putting the correct coins onto the sheet. Or once you have to totals you could challenge the children to make them with different coins. I have changed the values for each class and each group so it is easy to differentiate.
