Akshaya Patra - An Indian Clean Kitchen -CIVICS

Civics is an important part of Social Studies. Akshaya Patra is an organization, a "Clean Kitchen" that provides nutritious food to over 1,000,000 young Indian students in Jaipur, who might otherwise, drop out to raise money for their families. Akshaya Patra's motto is "Nutritious Food Feeds Healthy Minds." I visited one of the schools that benefits from this clean kitchen program. The students were indeed healthy, looking forward to a fruitful future. This PowerPoint depicts the school, its students, and the making of nutritious food in a clean kitchen. Many jobs have been provided to women, who otherwise would be on the streets. There is a wonderful purpose to this place. Every student has a right to a good education, and Akshaya Patra is well on its way to making this happen for more and more Indian children.
