Apartment Animals - Beat & Rhythm for Primary! Quarter Notes and 8th Notes with embedded audio

My 1st graders flipped for this PowerPoint activity that teaches “Ta” and “Ti-Ti”. The animals are used as rhythmic syllables and students can clap or play instruments to the animal rhythms. The rhythms will eventually change into standard notation.

Each quarter note is “cat” and each beamed 8th note is “rabbit.” There is even a metronome mp3 file that’s embedded into the game if you would like to challenge them to stay on beat. There are also 2 slides where the class can play 1 minute of “Freeze Dance” for performing the rhythmic slides correctly.

This can easily be broken into multiple days and played more than once. It also works perfectly with pentatonic Orff/pitched instruments.
