This lesson explores the social change of the period 1951-64 and also analyses the racial tension of the period. There is a hyperlinked video clip to explain how immigrants from the Commonwealth were viewed in the 1950s and the issues they faced. Students are then introduced to youth culture and there are two hyperlinked video clips; the mods and rockers, and the clashes at Margate. A task is included which will require the AQA Sally Waller textbook. A source activity is included to summarise the changes of the period and the lesson concludes with an essay. A set of notes is also provided together with two model answers.
