This resource is for A-Level students preparing them for the exam based on the Paris Anthology. Pupils complete initial activities that encourage them to analyse the theme of identity and then apply these skills to the extract 'Roommates'. The slide with the group analysis task on is ideal for a competition as pupils can work in groups of four. They prepare notes on each of the topics - making sure that all of their points link to the exam question at the top of the slide. Each group then takes it in turns to share their analysis, scoring points as they go. As the teacher, you must make sure you change the order in which they make their comments for each topic to allow them a fair chance of scoring points as they can't repeat those made by other groups. They essentially create an essay but verbally and then this system can be used for a comparative text and a plan built in the following lesson.
