2 exemplar essays for the pastoral genre, covering pastoral poems written in the 1300-1800 era and post-1945 poems, along with Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' and Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles'. These essays were all written by the same student, and marked by an English teacher with 40 years teaching experience and who has marked for the exam board many times. Each essay scored the highest band and marks of between 38-40 out of 40, showing an excellent example of covering the Assessment Objectives and writing fluently.

Please note the texts used and marking criteria are specific to the AQA A-Level English Literature course, as part of the Section B practice for the exam, but the essay writing format and application of knowledge to the texts are an all-round example of good practice.
