There are two lessons which cover Thatcher's foreign policy towards Europe and the USA.
The first lesson deals with the Special Relationship and students will investigate the role of Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Gorbachev and Pope John Paul II in bringing and end to the Cold War. There is a hyperlink to the drama, Threads, in order for students to debate the attitude of people living in the west towards nuclear war at that time. There is a set of notes to accompany the lesson.

The second lesson looks at Thatcher's attitude to Europe and begins with two hyperlinks showing different attitudes to Europe including Thatcher's famous 'no, no, no' speech. Students will need access to the AQA Sally Waller textbook and there is a set of notes to accompany the lesson.
