A 4 lesson scheme of work covering the new for 2016 AQA GCSE Biology topic Photosynthesis. This makes up half of the bioenergetics unit of work.

This scheme covers specification points: 4.4.1.1 (photosynthetic reaction), 4.4.1.2 (rate of photosynthesis), required practical activity 6 - investigate the effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis using aquatic organism such as pondweed, and 4.4.1.3 (use of glucose from photosynthesis).

This scheme aims for pupils to find out the equation for photosynthesis themselves by carrying out the required practical to see what plants need and looking at factors that effect photosynthesis.

Included: A technician guide, pupil worksheets, powerpoints (which uses boardworks), a circus style activity on photosynthesis factors and core assessments (graph marking and exam questions) with spaces for targets and responses. The lessons are as follows:

Lesson 1: Required Practical 6.
Lesson 2: Photosynthetic reaction.
Lesson 3: Limiting factors.
Lesson 4: A task on the uses of glucose and 6 MQ.
