This Bao (2018) Pixar Short Video Guide | Questions | Worksheet | Google Formats challenges students to unpack the powerful concepts bundled into this award winning animated short film by Domee Shi. Students compare their own relationships with their parents to the whimsically realistic relationship between Bao and his ‘mother’. Task students with determining the Chinese cultural elements of the story and replace them if the story’s setting was their own home. Give your students a unique glimpse into life from a mother’s perspective and the struggles they face as their children become independent.

This resource consists of 6 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

• CCSS Note: I’ve taken the liberty of aligning certain reading standards with the act of consuming content via the movie instead. Although students aren’t reading they are asked to perform the same cognitive functions on the content that they consumed from the movie.
