Because of Winn-Dixie is a heartfelt novel about a ten-year old girl named Opal, who moves to a small town in Florida with her preacher father. Life is lonely for Opal until she adopts a mangy stray dog. With the help of Opal’s new dog, whom she names Winn-Dixie, Opal makes new friends and strengthens her relationship with her father.
