This is an 8 week SOW on Blues Music for Key Stage 3.
It includes power points for all lessons and an extra cover lesson power point, a scheme of work and worksheets where necessary.
Lesson Objectives for Lesson 1 and 2:
To understand the main musical features of Blues Music
To listen to and recognise these musical features in a piece of Blues.
To perform to the class a Blues Scale.
To be able to improvise over a given bass using the Blues Scale.
Learning Objectives for lessons 3 to 5:
To understand how to form and play a chord.
To understand the structure of the Blues chord pattern.
To perform the Blues pattern correctly and in time.
To consolidate knowledge of Blues Music so far, both theory and practical.
Learning Objectives for lessons 6 to 8:
To be able to aurally identify a walking bass line.
To be able to perform my own walking bass line.
To be able to combine a given number of musical features.
To perform to the class.
To evaluate my own and others work.
Extension tasks and differentiation are included throughout and a resource list is part of the unit of work.
