I devised this tracker a long time ago to track the grades and progress of our BTEC training programme and the several units that encompass the overall grade. It was so successful that it is now used across two different regions in two different colleges.

I use this on a regular basis with my students as part of my own data analysis and give students specific tasks based on what is missing when resubmitting or chasing outstanding work.

Due to the size and nature of the document, each unit is represented by both a specific colour and a hyperlink which goes to the first cell of the table where the grades will be present.

The cells contain conditional formatting when specific text is entered in both the outcome cells and the result cells.

Outcomes - Y (green) N & N/S (red)
Result - P/M/D (green) F (red)

It can also be uploaded to your One Drive folder where it automatically becomes an online spreadsheet. This presents massive advantages as it can be shared as both an editable document to staff and a view-only document via your VLE to students.

You can add or take away tables, depending on the size of your BTEC delivery & assessment programme. You can also copy the same spreadsheet and add to another tab to represent a different year group or class.

This spreadsheet has seen several different versions and is quite sophisticated in terms of what it can do. I think that this offers great value for money as at least, creating something like this from scratch would take several hours.
