This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.

For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 27 after the completion of Component 1.

It has a presentations which has 47 slides and covers social care services for adults and children with a wide range of support needs which link into the health conditions in A1. In addition students will be introduced into informal carers and voluntary community support or faith based support groups and the role of charities in meeting social care needs. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA.

There are applied case study activities which will be a good source for students refer to for their PSA Task 2. There are enough for this to be used as homework tasks so they have an example of each of the services listed in the spec below…

Students will be be able to recognise which services are most suitable throughout there is reference to team work between professionals to meet the needs of the individual.

The package covers the below spec content;

Social care – help with day-to-day living because of illness, vulnerability or disability.

Social care services:
• services for children and young people – foster care, residential care, youth work
• services for adults or children with specific needs (learning disabilities, sensory impairments, long-term health issues) – residential care, respite care, domiciliary care
• services for older adults – residential care, domiciliary care
Additional care:
informal care – given by relatives, friends, neighbours, partners
voluntary care – community groups and faith-based organisations, charities
