Can We Bless the Lord?
As in this verse : Genesis 9:26 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בָּר֥וּךְ יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹ֣הֵי שֵׁ֑ם וִיהִ֥י כְנַ֖עַן עֶ֥בֶד לָֽמוֹ׃ Genesis 9:26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. How can we bless the Lord, the Superior? Does he need our blessings at all? The suggestion that the student offered was the use of the passive form. But we do find many other examples in Hebrew with active verbs for blessing the Lord: Psalm 134:1 שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת הִנֵּ֤ה׀ בָּרֲכ֣וּ אֶת־יְ֭הוָה כָּל־עַבְדֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה הָעֹמְדִ֥ים בְּבֵית־יְ֜הוָ֗ה בַּלֵּילֽוֹת׃
