A lesson that looks at the non violet direct action used in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. Students investigate Sit-ins, freedom rides and the march on Washington.

There is a homework task that can get students to look events. Students research one event and feedback what they have found out to their peers.

Lesson includes a GCSE styled question with sentence starters and key words as well as challenge tasks. There is a “model answer” for students to analyse and improve as a class.
