An interactive powerpoint and two worksheets for perimeter.
Differentiate easily by writing on the measurements of the width and length of the shapes.
I took the children outside for the first part of the lesson and they measured the football pen (in small groups) and we collectively worked out the perimeter of it. A perfect opportunity for outdoor learning.
The children engaged with this activity which is zoo themed.
An extension task idea: for them to work out the possible widths and lengths of a shape when given its total perimeter.
All children met the desired outcomes which were to be able to understand what 'perimeter' is/means and how to calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes.
This is a quick and simple to use resource that will test multiple children on the Y3/4 and Y5/6 word list included in the appendix of the National Curriculum Spelling Guidance.
You simply read the list out - the children type the word in and scroll down.
At the end their score out of 100, what they can and can't spell and ten words to learn are spit out.
More instructions are provided in the pack.
