An interactive powerpoint and two worksheets for perimeter.
Differentiate easily by writing on the measurements of the width and length of the shapes.
I took the children outside for the first part of the lesson and they measured the football pen (in small groups) and we collectively worked out the perimeter of it. A perfect opportunity for outdoor learning.
The children engaged with this activity which is zoo themed.
An extension task idea: for them to work out the possible widths and lengths of a shape when given its total perimeter.
All children met the desired outcomes which were to be able to understand what 'perimeter' is/means and how to calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes.
