This unit comprises of 14 detailed lessons, all of which focus on developing specific skills, consistently using a 'ham and cheese sandwich' metaphor to help pupils remember what they should be doing in their writing.
- Bread and Butter: basic SPAG
- Ham: ambitious vocabulary
- Cheese: language devices
- Ketchup: varied sentences
- Salad: advanced punctuation
- Sliced into triangles: varied and linked paragraphing
There are three assessments within this scheme.
Every lesson is detailed, accessible and engaging. For example, using song lyrics and music to practise the correct use of apostrophes.
This was planned with the AQA English Language spec in mind and could easily be differentiated up for KS4.
